Anthony M. Ludovici was born in London on January 8, 1882, to Albert and Marie Ludovici. He was educated privately and abroad, but chiefly by his mother. In 1920, he married Elsie F. Buckley (d. 1959). Ludovici started his life as an artist and at one time was the private secretary for the sculptor, Auguste Rodin.
